As winter lingers on and on… our skin begins to feel the effects of the cold, dry winter air. Believe it or not, it’s almost February and Valentine’s day is right around the corner. Maybe you’ll actually get out of the house with a loved one if the blizzard Gods are kind. But what’s the point of getting all dressed up in your date-night best with dry, cracked lips dead center on your face? There’s nothing worse than putting on your favorite lip stick and seeing cracked skin underneath! What’s a winter chapped gal to do? Enter my simple DIY lip scrub. Made from edible ingredients so if you happen to swallow some (whoops) it won’t be the end of the world. In fact, just call it dessert.
DIY Coconut Sugar Lip Scrub
½ tsp honey
½ teaspoon coconut oil
1 teaspoon coconut sugar (regular sugar will work too)
Optional: 1 drop peppermint essential oil for a little zing! Find out more about the brand of EOs I use here.
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a small cup and stir to combine. Using your finger, scoop a little of the scrub and rub on your lips. Use circular motion and scrub for 2 plus minutes to make sure you get all the dead skin off your lips. Rinse off with water and put a little extra coconut oil on your lips to moisturize if needed. Enjoy your smooth lips and top with your favorite non-toxic date night lip stick.
