I’ve learned never to underestimate the power of maple syrup. A few drops can change the “wow” kid factor of many dishes. Grade B maple syrup contains a lot a zinc, a mineral needed for immune function, among other things. This doesn’t mean maple syrup should become your new sweet vitamin condiment–it’s still sugar–but at least it’s a nice kind of sugar.
Maple Flax Yogurt contains flaxseeds, a great source of omega-3 fats. Make sure you buy organic, whole flaxseeds and store them in your fridge or freezer. The oils in flaxseeds are very fragile and can easily turn rancid. What turns oils rancid? Heat, light, and oxygen. Keep the omega-3 fats healthy buy storing your flaxseeds well and grinding them immediately before serving because eating rancid seeds does not make you smarter.
